Professor Penelope was created during a period of separation, while a father was living and working abroad during custody challenges. Even across distance, one thing remained constant — the bedtime story ritual. It became a way to stay connected, share time together, and hold onto the small moments that matter most.

At the centre of the story is Professor Penelope — a curious young explorer inspired by real life. Armed with her instant camera, she documents adventures, asks endless questions, notices the little details others miss, and discovers new words between English and Italian along the way. Her world is built on curiosity, creativity, and real moments turned into memories.

Inspired by a childhood between two languages, Professor Penelope gently introduces bilingual learning through storytelling and shared experiences between parent and child. Between the ages of 4–12, children absorb languages naturally and confidently — a window that is often missed — and the stories are designed to make that learning feel simple, enjoyable, and part of everyday life.

At its heart, the book is about connection. Slowing down, reading together, learning languages and turning ordinary moments into lasting memories that families can hold onto long after the final page.
